The presentation by Rikki Anderson was very knowledgeable and entertaining. It was ta view on the changes to the legislation from the point of view of an inspector on the ground. Well worth the effort from all who attended.
The Work, Health & Safety Act 2012

The legislation came into law on 1st January, 2012
Rikki will discuss the National harmonised legislation and how it differs from the "old" Queensland legislation and what that means for you.
Key elements of the act include:
- Primary duty of care responsibilities requiring persons conducting a business or undertaking to, so far as reasonably practicable, ensure the health & safety of workers and others who may be affected by the carrying out of work
- Duty of care for persons who influence the way work is carried out, as well as the integrity of products used for work.
- A requirement that ‘officers ‘ exercise due diligence to ensure compliance
- Consultation, representation and participation provisions
- Workplace entry by WHS entry permit holders
