The 2007 State and National Awards were presented at a Gala Dinner on 31st October at Sofitel Melbourne, 25 Collins Street, Melbourne on 31st October, 2007. Mr Tony Craven, former CEO of JAS-ANZ delivered the after dinner speech and assisted with the presentation of the National Awards. All the winners were Gold awardees inn their own States.

Medium Organisations - Private for Profit- Silver Award Carr Civil Contracting Pty Ltd (Western Australia) was established in 2002 following the purchase of Colin Carr Earthmoving and Plant Hire, which has been operating in the Pilbara region since 1986. The company has continued to operate as a privately owned entity based in Karratha and has expanded their operations with depots in Onslow and Carnarvon. Carr Civil Contracting focuses on the delivery of conventional and innovative earthmoving, concrete and bulk material haulage solutions. It is their aim to meet the needs and expectations of their customers with nil harm to people or the environment. They have a reputation for safe effective production techniques and low-cost solutions servicing a diverse range of projects. Their client base extends from mining companies, federal and state government agencies, local authorities through to the private sector. The company has developed specific expertise in the manufacture of road and heavy vehicle pavements, bulk earthworks, dams, levees, cartage of bulk materials, site remediation and with the introduction of a concrete division into the business can now offer a comprehensive civil and mining package to their clients. |

Medium Organisations - Not for Profit- Gold Award Robinvale District Health Services (Victoria): Robinvale District Health Services is a "Multipurpose Health Service" operating in country Victoria . It provides high quality health and welfare care to locals in emergency, acute, residential aged and a broad array of primary health services. During 2006, RDHS began a program to upgrade its management systems to bring about full integration of all standards and guidelines; this will untimely eliminate waste and duplication of effort, and bring about increased customer satisfaction. Implementation is well under way. Integrated management systems switches the focus from quality practiced within the various departments to the very organisation itself. The integrated management system is a management strategy to get the organisation working to its maximum effectiveness and efficiency. |

Large Organisations - Not for Profit- Gold Award Royal Automobile Club of Queensland Limited (RACQ) (Queensland): The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) is a mutual association that has actively supported motorists for more than 100 years. As Queensland 's peak motoring body with 1.1 million members, RACQ provides expert advice, information and assistance relating to a wide range of motoring and touring matters. An average of 800 roadside assistance calls are received every hour statewide and close to 85% of these are attended to within 40 minutes. Other motoring assistance includes personal loans and vehicle inspections for car buyers, plus technical and legal advice and insurance cover through RACQ Insurance. For travelers RACQ provides theme park and attraction ticketing with discounts for members, maps and touring information including an online trip planner and an accommodation booking service. Particular assistance and support is provided to young drivers through the Club's innovative Learn2go and free2go programs. RACQ is also an active and vocal advocate for safer drivers, vehicles and roads with its advocacy role spanning all aspects of road safety, road funding, traffic congestion and environmental issues relating to mobility. |

Large Organisations - Private for Profit Maunsell Australia Pty Ltd (Queensland): Maunsell was a very proud recipient this year of the National Gold Award for the second year in a row in the category for "Large for profit Organisations". Maunsell operates across Australia , New Zealand and Asia , using a single system for project management and an intranet-based Project Delivery Framework, now adopted globally throughout parent company AECOM. Chief Executive Officer, Richard Jackson said "Importantly, this award also reflects the active role taken by our staff and leadership teams in consistently reviewing and refining current processes to ensure our approach is both innovative and world's best practice. In 2006, we were the first engineering consulting firm to win the Gold Awards, making these wins not only another significant achievement for our business but also another first for the Australian Organisation for Quality who administer the awards." Speaking at the awards dinner in Melbourne on Wednesday night, Technology and Risk Director David Finch said the key to Maunsell's continued success was staff engagement. "By managing our operations through a dedicated Project Delivery Framework, we ensure teams are providing a consistently high level of client service across all professional disciplines and project operations," he said. |

Large Organisations-Not for Profit Hunter Area Pathology Services (New South Wales): Hunter Area Pathology Service (HAPS) is a clinical and diagnostic business unit of the Hunter New England Health Service. It provides consultation, education, research and referral services to both public and private sector hospitals and community practices. It is attached to a tertiary teaching hospital and provides post and undergraduate teaching to medical doctors. It also competes in the open market for privately referred revenue, providing a variety of products and services to both medical and industrial sectors, with the purpose of reducing pathology costs to the Health Service and improving opportunities for organisational development. HAPS is an innovative and entrepreneurial organisation and has developed and implemented products to improve patient safety and service delivery, including software eg electronically based Quality Management Systems, which support clinical outcomes and business operations. It has developed strong relationships with suppliers to ensure access to latest technology, which has resulted in competitive advantage and improved clinical outcomes. It has a strong focus on improving the processes that underpin the strategic clinical and business goals of the organisation. This has resulted in improved delivery of services that aid clinical decision making, improved privately referred revenue streams that support re-investment into new technology and business development. In turn, this has also improved productivity and the professional development of staff. |

The Hon Mike Ahern, Patron of AOQ-QLD launched the Gold Award for Business Excellence 2007 on 4th April, 2007. at a function sponsored by Cliftons following a series of launches in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney also sponsored by Cliftons. Mr Ahern noted that this is a National Award in keeping with AOQ-QLD's national presence. He thanked the sponsors for their involvement especially JAS-ANZ the Inaugural National Sponsor who have contributed again this year as have Sci-Qual International, Quality Australia and World Conference Systems. We welcome back Mercer Management and welcome Global Mark, our new sponsor in 2007. The Hon Mike Ahern also noted that the National Gold Awardees in each category would be eligible to nominate for the Asia Pacific Quality Awards. The AOQ-QLD established "The Gold Award for Quality" to recognise and encourage organisations in the pursuit of excellence and sound Company-Wide Management.The award has been in existence since 1996 as a State based award, but in 2004 the award went National and the Inaugural National Gold Awards for Quality were presented at Qualcon 2004 in Adelaide.
In 2007 the current sponsors are JAS-ANZ (National Sponsor), Sci-Qual International, Global Mark and Mercer Management, QA-The Business Improvement Journal and World Conference Systems.
The Gold Awards are annual awards offered at Regional and Statewide levels to organisations which excel in Management. The Award Criteria focuses on the eight critical Quality Management elements. These elements are aligned with the Quality Management Principles outlined in ISO 9004:2000 and are:

For more than a decade, annual Quality Awards Presentations were made by AOQ (Queensland) Inc. Until 2000, the Gold Awards were a Queensland-wide award.
In 2000, the first regional award in Queensland was hosted by the Gold Coast, and Victoria presented both metropolitan and regional awards. The Gold Coast City Council and the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards Association partnered the AOQ (Queensland) Inc, in hosting the 2000 Gold Coast Regional Gold Awards.
In 2006 awards were presented to excellent organisations in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Organisations with a third party certification accredited by JAS-ANZ are eligible to apply for the Gold Award for Business Excellence. Organisations with third party certification issued by industry specific accreditation associations that are recognised by the Australian Government are eligible to apply for the AOQ-QLD Industry Award for Business Excellence. If also eligible for the Gold Award for Business Excellence, these organisations may apply for both awards.
The Gold Award for Business Excellence focuses on:
